Frequently asked questions

What makes an incident "OSHA recordable"?

Per OSHA recordkeeping rules, an incident is recordable if it results in death, loss of consciousness, days away from work, restricted duty or job transfer, or medical treatment beyond first aid.

What's the difference between OSHA Form 300 and 301?

OSHA Form 300 is the running annual log of all recordable injuries and illnesses at a site. OSHA Form 301 is the detailed incident report filled out for each individual case, within 7 calendar days of learning about it.

For the federal recordkeeping rules referenced above, see OSHA's recordkeeping requirements.
